Metro Community Living Training Summary
In 2024 Metro Community Living (MCL) provided over 4000 hours of training and development for its Direct Care staff.
All MCL Direct Support Staff are provided training in the following areas:
- Fire and Life Safety
- Food Handlers
- Health and Personal Care
- Medication Awareness
- Person Centred Planning
- Positive Behaviour Supports
- Standard First Aid/CPR
MCL also offers specialized training to our management and Direct Support Staff. The following training is available:
MANDT – Non-Violent Crisis Intervention and prevention training
Relational level – Building Healthy Relationships, Communication Skills and Conflict Resolution.
Conceptional level – Trauma Informed Services and Positive Behaviour Support
Technical level (new) – Assisting and Supporting Skills, Separating Skills, Situational Awareness, Restraining Skills (standing)
Workplace Violence Risk Assessment & Prevention from Aware NS
Safe Handling and Mobility Training from Aware NS
Tube feeding competency training
S.A.F.E.R Leadership Training from Aware NS
Cultural Sensitivity and Awareness Training
Dementia Capable Support for Adults with Intellectual Disabilities & Dementia
Compensation
Permanent positions are available as both part-time and full-time.
Wages include annual increase and shift premiums for nights and weekends
Paid overtime, vacation, and sick time
Extended health and dental benefits, employee assistance program, 7% matched Group RRSP
Casual positions are flexible to meet your needs.
Wages increase after completing core competency training (provided)
